Dear Friends and Colleagues,

This 8th international Communicating the Museum conference in Venice was an historic moment.

Historic because of the quality of the global networking: 280 top museum professionals from 29 countries representing the 5 continents.

Inspiring ideas from the leading international experts talking about strategies - from 'how to make an impact' with Juan Cabral speaking about emotions and 'no fear' to Patrick Walker and his vibrant 'YouTube' presentation on how to build and expand our museums' audiences; with online community sharing from George Oates at Flickr; 'branding' and self presentation from Robert Jones at Wolff Olins and from Amitava Chattopadhyay of INSEAD; and with Arthur Cohen showing us how to develop our audiences for tomorrow. Laura Pollini, from Benetton, presented 'Another View' and shared this giant of retail's strategy.

Museums delegates enjoyed an amazingly rich four day programme designed to fulfil their professional expectations in communication.

The conference unlocked the doors to the most fabulous addresses in Venice. The Gala Dinner at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection was a truly magical evening and it was a privilege to share the evening with you all.

Thank you, Venice, for your hospitality. A huge success!
